About the Author
Alan Glynn is a graduate of Trinity College. His first novel, Limitless, was released as a film in March 2011 by Relativity Media. He is also the author of Winterland and Bloodland.

A must read - very relevant to today's finance world

I received a copy of this book free of charge via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Despite being rather confused to begin with due to various character POV's, this has to be one of the best books I have read so far this year. Once I got past the initial confusion and the characters began to blend together and I was able to link them up (about 20% of the way through), I was hooked and could not put it down. I read almost the entire book (minus the 9% I started with a few days earlier) on Sunday. Despite the day being very busy - shopping, cooking side dishes for Memorial Day BBQ, attending said BBQ - I made it my mission to finish. And I did!
Before starting to read GRAVELAND, I had no idea that it tied in with Alan Glynn's other novels. They take place in the same "world", characters crossover and the MDT-48 drug from THE DARK FIELDS is also mentioned more than a few times. Now I just have to read the other books.
To me this is a one huge sign of a good book, when you not only have to read it (or the majority) in one sitting, but you then immediately have to seek out other books in the series or by the same author.
Another note I want to make is just how relevant and current the book is and that with all that has happened on Wall Street in the last few years, the events within the book are not too much of stretch for the imagination. Also Twitter features heavily, as does the slow death of print publications and the necessity for immediate news release through online avenues.
I realize I have not gone into much of the story line in my thoughts here, but I made a very conscious effort to not just rehash the synopsis as well as not giving anything away.
Well as is probably clear, I loved this book. I will now have to find time to read The Dark Fields Winterland and Bloodland and whatever Alan Glynn writes next. I already recommended this book to my sister after her insistence that I read The Dark Fields and I recommend it to everyone reading this too!

The First 3/4 was great!

I was loving this book until I got about 2/3 of the way through it. The author very abruptly ended a storyline concerning Frank Bishop's daughter and her boyfriend. Then proceeded to dump Frank Bishop despite the reader's interest in him after having it set up at length. Bishop was never brought up again.
I did enjoy Ellen, his main character, although it seemed that she, along with the author, also blew off Mr. Bishop.
This book was exceptionally well written, although for me, I felt rather jerked around by his treatment of the characters. The last quarter of the book was not nearly as exciting, although I liked how it ended.
I Imagine Mr. Glynn's fans will enjoy it. The book does have a fun plot to follow, and I will recommend it on the basis that not all readers will feel as I do about the characterization.

Good novel

I read the reviews of other readers about this book. I was put off when 2 of them said there were so many characters. You also do not have the x-ray feature on this book for kindle users. I finally read it. I kept a list of characters for the first 2 chapters. I felt the character development was superior. The author wove the lives of the characters together very well. It is exciting. I could tp put it down
