In 1980 he became an independent consultant, providing consulting services to corporations as Bank of New York and Merrill Lynch, where he lead the development efforts of both systems and databases. Carl's consulting experience encompasses applications in compliance, asset management, banking, order processing, telecommunications, insurance, health care, manufacturing, merchandising, business services, and employee management & services. Carl has developed a myriad of systems and databases. He brings this experience in business and technology to clients, when advising them on how to develop an efficacious ECDM and EMR that are scalable and will withstand time and change.

Shows what needs to be done, by a master

If you are in a position to need to contribute - or perhaps even provide some leadership - in an effort to develop and document the type of information described in this book, I doubt you will find a more succint and lucid roadmap for laying out exactly what information you need, why you need it, and how each class of information can be used. It provides great definition of the deliverables for such an effort.
I say "perhaps provide some leadership" because I personally don't think it is realistic to expect you could successfully lead such an enterprise effort without having a ton of experience and training in skills that are not covered in the book- for exmple conducting JAD sessions, interviewing various levels in an organization, navigating political issues, etc.
This book is about the "what" of such an effort. The "how" takes coaching, real world practice, and a lot of painful experience to be able to do effectively.
But of course if you don't know what your deliverables need to be, how you create them is academic...
